THE WORK THAT RECONNECTS - A FILM BY PAT VAN BOECKEL

seagulls on Midway island

The Work That Reconnects has inspired thousands of people to take heart and work together for the sake of life on Earth, despite rapidly worsening social and ecological conditions. It has also inspired people to co-create experiential practices that serve the Work in specific groups and settings.

"In this beautifully filmed documentary, Joanna Macy speaks to the importance of what it means to be alive at this time and what we are called to do. Through interviews with activists Ann Symens-Bucher, Belinda Griswold, Barbara Ford, Chris Jordan, Jade BeGay, Mallika Nair, and Pancho Ramos-Stierle, we see how the Work That Reconnects can transform our pain for the world into courage and resilience and cultivate what we can offer the world community." - Werner Brandt

Work That Reconnects Video Workshop Series

The Work That Reconnects (WTR) is a workshop series that explores how to evoke creative, compassionate and transformational responses to the ecological crises of our time. Drawing from deep ecology, systems theory and spiritual traditions, the Work That Reconnects builds motivation, creativity, courage and solidarity for the transition to a sustainable human culture. First emerging in 1978, this pioneering, open-source body of work has its roots in the teachings and experiential methods of Joanna Macy.

Eco-philosopher Joanna Macy, Ph.D., is a scholar of Buddhism, general systems theory, and deep ecology. A respected voice in movements for peace, justice, and ecology, she interweaves her scholarship with four decades of activism. She has created a ground-breaking theoretical framework for personal and social change, as well as a powerful workshop methodology for its application.

THE WISDOM TO SURVIVE

THE WISDOM TO SURVIVE accepts the consensus of scientists that climate change has already arrived, and asks, what is keeping us from action? The film explores how unlimited growth and greed are destroying the life support system of the planet, the social fabric of society, and the lives of billions of people.

Will we have the wisdom to survive? The film features thought leaders and activists in the realms of science, economics and spirituality discussing how we can evolve and take action in the face of climate disruption. They urge us to open ourselves to the beauty that surrounds us and get to work on ensuring it thrives.

Joanna Macy is among those featured with Bill McKibben, Nikki Cooley, Roger Payne, Richard Heinberg, Amy Seidl, Stephanie Kaza, Gus Speth, Jihan Gearan, and Ben Falk.

Keepers of the Deadly Fire - EON Video

EON. It was over twenty years ago when future EON co-founder Mary Beth Brangan joined a ‘Fire Group’ to explore the concept of long-term nuclear responsibility led by Joanna Macy. Since that time, Joanna has spread the seed values of Nuclear Guardianship around the world. It is a concept made urgently relevant by the ongoing Fukushima disaster.
